Bartosz Bielenia
Bartosz Bielenia, born in 1992 in Poland, studied acting at the Krakow Film School. Having started off as a stage actor, Bartosz is well known for portraying Shakespearean characters. He made his television screen debut in 2012, with 2015 marking his first appearance in a feature film, Disco Polo.
Since then, Bartosz has been regularly cast by Polish directors. He starred in the first Polish Netflix show, 1983 by Kasia Adamik and Agnieszka Holland. His film Corpus Cristi (2019), directed by Jan Komasa, premiered in the Venice Days section of the Biennale and went on to achieve great international success, including a nomination in the Best International Feature Film category at the Oscars. Bartosz returned to the film screen as the lead in Prime Time (2021), presented at Sundance IFF. In 2022, his first feature produced outside of Poland, Plastic Symphony (2022), is set to premiere in the Official Competition section at Black Nights Tallinn IFF.

From the age of four he learned the art of playing the violin, then also the viola and took part in competitions like „Jugend musiziert“ where he won first places several times. Despite his success as a musician, he was drawn to acting and in 2006 he began studying at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. He was one of the most formative young actors of the last ten years at the „Berliner Ensemble“. In the film, he was casted as the legendary Bavarian King LUDWIG II (2012) and prevailed over three hundred other actors. His art of acting won him the Bavarian Film Prize and the New Faces Award among others. A statement by Sabin Tambrea describes quite well his view of facing up to the tasks, even if they seem laborious at first: When asked if he could ride, he answered: „Yes, I can ride, but I only have to learn to“. In the recent times, Tambrea played Narcissus for the film-adaptation of Hermann Hesse’s novel of the century NARZISSUS AND GOLDMUND, directed by Academy Award Winner Stefan Ruzowitzy, which opened in March 2020 shortly before all cinemas were closed. With LA GOMERA he was at the Cannes Film Festival 2019 and in BABYLON BERLIN (season three) he played a charismatic actor in the UFA film of the 30’s.
